WE’RE MOVING!

After more than a decade on Searle Street, we’re relocating. Observatory here we come!

Of course we’re feeling sad, and incredibly nostalgic, about leaving the site that has been our home for so long, but also super excited for what lies ahead.

If you are one of our many incredible customers, then you know what we do, who we are, and you get what we’re about. We love and appreciate every single one of you. We’re not changing, not even our name, just our address...

321 Lower Main Road, Observatory

Our ethos remains!

The plan is business as usual from the 1st of October 2025 at our new address.

We may be somewhat limited over this period in terms of the scale and quantity of work we can accept, so please give us a call or drop us a message beforehand if you need help with your bike!

If you’re heading over from Searle Street, there are several different routes to choose from, see map below, with our recommended route highlighted in blue. Please take into consideration time of day and expected traffic!

Looking forward to welcoming you all to the new shop.

We sell new and vintage bikes, and refurbish old beauties.

We service almost anything with two wheels, a handlebar & a seat.

At Woodstock Cycle Works we love to restore old bikes, but also service newer commuters, fixies, mountain bikes, fold-ups, road bikes, even electric and motor-driven bicycles (though they’re not our favorites). We like hearing about your cycling adventures and the bicycles you own & have owned in the past. Collecting and showcasing classic and retro bicycles is what WCW is all about (If you ever want to donate bikes to us, feel free to do so).

Nils doesn't like throwing stuff away, so we may just have the biggest supply of second-hand or used bicycle parts in Africa.

If you know what you’re after, you are sure to find it here! We're looking forward to meeting you and your bike(s).

Nils & Suzanne Hansen

We buy bikes!

At WCW we love bikes & enjoy refurbishing a bike for a new life with a new owner. If you have any bikes (MTB, road, BMX, etc.) or bicycle parts you feel we may be interested in buying. Please drop us an email with some pictures of the bicycle/spares and an idea of the price you're interested in getting for it, then we'll communicate with you asap.

Bikes for sale.

We sell a variety of new and used bicycles of varying styles, ranging from classic & modern road bikes, mountain bikes, gravel & touring bikes, commuters, cruisers, single speeds/fixed gear, and kids/junior bikes.

We don't hold a large selection of new bikes in stock, just a select few, but we can place custom orders from suppliers and brands we work closely with...

We have a good selection of recycled bicycles. They’re in good riding condition & are checked and refurbished to the Woodstock Cycleworks standard while still keeping them as affordable as possible. Expect to pay at least R4000 & upwards.

Single speeds and custom bikes are more expensive because of their labour intensive work, and (often) the importing or sourcing of parts. These range from R4500 to R11000.

Rare/collectable racers and track bicycles are getting harder to find & therefor come at a premium price. Some are good for custom projects; while some are too awesomely original to change. Prices vary from R5500 to R12500.

Modern mountain bikes like hardtails & dual suspensions, range between R5500 to R25000.

Frames? As with rare/collectable racers, everything depends on the condition, history and rarity. Basic frames and forks start at R1000 but can go up to R5500.

We also have one of the biggest collections of used and vintage parts. One day we might actually get it sorted but please phone or email and we’ll try to find what you need. Again, prices vary on condition and rarity… and if Nils wants to sell it… lol!

Suppliers.

We believe in using top quality components. Whether we're servicing, restoring, or building a bicycle, quality and passion is at the heart of what we do. These are some of the quality brands we have had the pleasure of working, and building relationships with, over the years…
